In spellwork, a petition paper acts as a written declaration of your intent. It focuses your energy and provides a tangible anchor for your magic. Creating a well-crafted petition enhances the spell Whether you seek abundance, love, protection, or transformation.
Choosing Your Materials
The paper itself holds energy. Plain white paper works just fine, as does paper torn from a brown paper bag; however, considering the material and color can enhance your intent. Using handmade paper will add a personal touch. Colored paper can align with your goals—green for prosperity, red for passion, and black for protection. Torn edges, compared to clean-cut paper, can subtly shift the energy.
Ink matters, too. Black ink is a solid choice, but color or magical inks can amplify your purpose. Some practitioners prefer a pencil for spells meant to fade, while others use their blood or plant-based inks to create a deeper bond with the working.
Writing the Petition
Clarity is everything. Express your desires as if they are already manifesting. Instead of saying, “I want financial stability,” say, “Money flows to me consistently, and I always have what I need. Avoid using phrases that express self-doubt, such as “I hope” or “I wish.” Magic responds best to confidence and certainty.
Many traditions include repetition and layering. You might write the petition several times—3, 7, or 9 being common—or cross your name over your request to bind the energy to you. Folding also plays a role: fold the petition toward you to attract, away from you to release. Sealing it with wax, a sigil, or a drop of oil further charges the intent.
Using the Petition
How you incorporate the petition depends on the spell. Some are placed under candles, inside charm bags, or tucked into a wallet or shoe. Others are burned as offerings or buried at a crossroads, in a garden, or beneath a threshold. Each placement aligns with a specific magical purpose—fire transforms, earth grounds, air carries, and water dissolves.
Let the magic work once your petition is written and set in motion. Avoid obsessing over the outcome or constantly revisiting the request. Trust that the energy you put into the work is moving forward.
Do you already use petitions in your spellwork? Which methods have worked best for you? Do you have a preferred way to dispose of them once the spell has run its course?

or do you mostly provide teaching and resources so I can do it myself?
