Hand-Forged Candle Scribe

A simple working tool, individually forged in steel for inscribing candles with words, symbols, sigils, and designs.

The finely pointed end allows for controlled lines and detailed inscription. A light hand will leave a clean, fine mark in the wax; additional pressure can create a deeper groove when the working calls for it. The squared opposite end can also be used when a broader or deeper mark is preferred.

Each scribe has a substantial feel in the hand, with a forged twist through the shaft and a small finger pinch near the point for greater control while writing or carving.

Because each scribe is individually hand-forged, no two are exactly alike. Slight variations in the twist, curve, and finish are part of the character of a handmade working tool.

Each scribe comes in a corked glass tube to protect the sharpened point when not in use.

Practitioner's Note

You don't need a special tool to inscribe a candle. A toothpick, skewer, dried ballpoint pen, or other pointed object can do the work.

But there comes a time when you may want a tool made for the work.

I chose this scribe because it feels good in the hand and allows both fine inscription and deeper carving. Use a light hand for words, sigils, and detailed designs, or increase the pressure when you want a deeper groove for adding herbs or other materials.

As with any working tool, let use teach you how it works best in your hand.

The point is quite sharp; keep the scribe safely stored in its glass tube when not in use.
